Prayagraj: In a bid to propel enterprises in rural areas and building rural entrepreneurs, as many as 30 women Self Help Groups (SHGs) were granted loans worth Rs 10 lakh in Koroan block in trans Yamuna pocket of Prayagraj district under the Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) here on Saturday.
The authorities of SRLM (State Rural Livelihood Mission) have set a target to distribute loans worth Rs one crore among women SHGs in 23 blocks of the Prayagraj district under SVEP till July 15.
Amit Shukla, Prayagraj District Mission Manager (Prayagraj) told TOI, “We have disbursed loans worth Rs 10 lakhs among 30 women SHGs in Koraon block to build rural entrepreneurship in trans-Yamuna pocket under start-up village entrepreneurship programme on Saturday itself.”
He added, “Apart from 30 SHGs in Koraon block, we are also selecting as many as 10 SHGs each from remaining 22 blocks of Prayagraj district to disburse loans to the tune of worth Rs one crore till July 15.”
Once these women SHGs receive loans, they will be able to start their small business i.e fast-food corner, bakery shops, stitching and embroidery work etc and becoming self-reliant.
Shukla, meanwhile, pointed out, “Activities are strategically designed to promote rural enterprises under SVEP and one of the key areas is to develop pool of community resource persons- enterprise promotion (CRP-EP) who are local and support entrepreneurs setting-up rural enterprises.” Shukla also said that SVEP has been helpful to push to non-farm livelihoods, especially skill-based work and small enterprises, thereby creating jobs and stimulating long-term economic growth and produce social benefits.
