Burn ban in effect for 14 days – InsuranceNewsNet

The Delaware County Commissioners approved a 14-day burn ban throughout the county. The ban does not include grills.

Emergency Management Director Jeff Reeves proposed the ban based on the lack of rain and the extreme heat. After 14 days, the ban will be reconsidered.

In other action, the county clerk Barbara Barnes said her office would prepare the financial statements for the county this year rather than relying on an accountant.

Also approved was an invoice for fire protection for the jail in the amount of $3,883 as well as accepted a firearm donation from Miarianne Skeoch.

A request from the City of Jay for office space for two employees who will be working with the district court on opioid stimulant and substance abuse program. The commissioners attempted to find space, but no accommodations were found.

The commission also approved certificates of liability insurance for both the Leach Volunteer Fire Department and the Cowskin Volunteer Fire Department.
