A co-founder of The Aliera Companies Inc. used the bankrupt healthcare sharing ministry operator as “her personal piggy bank” and should be forced to return more than $9 million in funds fraudulently transferred from the company, a group of creditors said.
The committee of unsecured creditors urged the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to permit a lawsuit against Aliera co-founder Shelley Steele to recover money on behalf of the company’s estate. The company has consented to the request, the committee said in a July 22 filing.
