Connect with Boulder County’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program Medicare Counseling Team
Boulder County, Colo. – Boulder County’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Medicare Counseling Team provides classes, individual assistance, and fraud prevention to Boulder County residents. Boulder County Area Agency on Aging (BCAAA) encourages residents to reach out and participate in the below events. BCAAA assists participants at no cost in making Medicare decisions. Residents turning 64 or receiving SSDI and transitioning to Medicare should contact BCAAA early in their Medicare journey. Everyone is invited to connect with Boulder County’s SHIP Medicare Counselors through the resources listed below.
Medicare Fraud Prevention Week
Join the SHIP Medicare Counselors and the Community Protection Division of the District Attorney’s Office for “Scams, Scams, Scams! Fraudsters on the Loose” on Wednesday, June 8 from noon to 1 p.m. on Zoom. Learn how to prevent, detect, and report fraud during Medicare Fraud Prevention Week. Register at boco.org/AAALearns. Follow the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging on Facebook to learn more tips to prevent Medicare Fraud from June 5-11.
BCAAA’s Medicare Basics Classes are designed for anyone wanting to understand Medicare enrollment, plans, benefits, and costs. The program provides up-to-date, objective information and guidance when comparing and enrolling in Prescription Drug plans (Medicare Part D), Advantage Plans, and information about Supplemental insurance plans (Medigaps). BCAAA also provides guidance in the appeal process and information about resources for financial help with Medicare costs. Medicare Counselors will be hosting an in-person Medicare Basics Class on Wednesday, July 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the St. Vrain Community HUB (515 Coffman St – Room 112, Longmont). More information and registration here.
